Middletown approves 40 cent tax rate for 1935
The Burgess and Commissioners set Middletown’s 1935 tax rate at 40 cents per $100, unchanged from the past two years. The town’s streets are largely paved allowing funds usually used for street work to support other needs including a new storage reservoir east of town. Federal Relief funds finance most of the project, but progress is slow due to a limited county relief crew. The rate takes effect January 1 with standard discounts for taxes paid before April 1, 1935.
