DuPont profit dispute debated by Senate munitions panel

Washington testimony disputed government audit of the Delaware DuPonts profit of about 1.96 million dollars cited as risk free. Arthur C. Carndull, ex Justice Department attorney, said he was removed in 1923 amid claims the company owed the government at least 900 thousand. DuPonts rejected the figures as ridiculous and noted extensive War Department audits that even disallowed a fountain pen expense. They argued settlement reduced the 900 thousand to about 400 thousand after offsets. They denied consent to settle for 900 thousand in full.
