Tonight mixed rain sleet and freezing rain in Western Maryland with lows in the 30s and 90 percent precipitation. Tuesday expects continued rain with highs in the 40s and 9 percent rain chance. Maryland Mountains see sleet and freezing rain, then rain by morning, with steadier temps in the 30s. Winds mainly southeast. extended forecast calls for windy, colder Wednesday and partly cloudy Thursday and Friday.

Louisiana man shot by off duty officer on beltway incident
An off duty Prince Georges County officer shot and killed Richard F. Calvird, 38, after Calvird rammed a yellow pickup into the officer’s car while approaching with a large knife on the Capital Beltway near Wisconsin Avenue. Calvird, described as a Louisiana construction worker, died at the scene. The officer fired a fatal shot after the confrontation as Montgomery County police investigated.

Final 33 mile stretch of I 95 to open this week

Gilbreath was struck while stopping after a collision, and county police say Mr Calvird advanced with a knife. the officer fired, killing Calvird and the sergeant is on leave pending investigation.

Sherwood High to start 11 million modernization in 1989
