Fire damages Rocky Ridge barn and cattle farm
A fire at River Farms on Motter Station Road in Frederick County caused over 100000 in damage to a 100 by 70 foot single story pole barn and its contents. About 28 units fought the blaze for over eight hours after being reported at 12:46 a.m. Franklin Williams owns the 133 acre beef cattle and crop farm. He was notified at his Woodsboro home around 1 a.m. The barn is quarter of a mile from the main house and was totally involved when discovered by an employee. State fire marshal officials arrived around 4 a.m. The cause remained undetermined this morning.

Hearing delayed for youth charged with murder in Maryland case

Radar to curb speeders at Rosemont Avenue location

Death of Hood College English professor Dr Janice Cole
Dr Janice Cole associate professor of English at Hood College died suddenly December 9 in Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born July 25 1936 in Chicago she earned degrees from the University of Michigan and held fellowships. A longtime faculty member since 1965 she contributed to college governance and academic planning before her passing.

Five Pets Found Dead at Middletown School
Five pets were found dead in separate cages at Middletown Elementary School as staff reported the Frederick County Sheriff's Office investigates possible poisoning. One hamster, two mice, and two large African Albino frogs were discovered dead with no signs of tampering. a veterinarian suspects poisoning in at least one. Dr. Tom Henry of Middletown Elementary is asking for information.
