An Irish terrier named Nfe saved his master when the horse Jock Scot turned violent in a stall at Belmont Park. The terrier jumped the horse, seized the horse by the nose, and distracted the animal as trainers and bystanders intervened. The incident followed reports of a steamship shipment promoting Italian goods.
Frank Michael of Daysville was arrested on a warrant charged with unlawfully burning an automobile to defraud. The fire occurred near Daysville and Mt. Pleasant on October 25 while en route to his home, with a $1,550 insured value. He appeared before Justice J. Grahame Johnson with bail set at $3,000 and was represented by attorney J. F. R. Heagy.
