Food embargo bills proposed in Congress to curb high food costs
Two measures aim to curb soaring prices by embargoing farm products or regulating cold storage goods and parcel post rates. One proposal would block export of farm products for a year, another would let the president suspend exports as prices rise. Both seek to ship food to Americans abroad or to those in need. The bills also seek tighter interstate storage limits, with a ten month cap on cold storage shipments except for butter.
