Marriage Is Popular and Divorce Decline Cited by Census
A 1951 Census Bureau look finds marriage rising while the share of unmarried people falls since 1890. The shift stems from higher marriage rates through 1940, a postwar surge, aging of the population, and fewer teens bearing children. Proportionally there are more married people now than a decade ago, despite sensational divorce headlines. The piece also weaves in a humorous note about a collector Wooster and a few odd orders, contrasting serious demography with light anecdote.

Wooster family rediscovers art in tiny soldiers and quarrel
In New York since 1642 the Wooster family has handmade detailed 3‑inch figures of soldiers and historical figures. The fifth generation, led by Earl and Clive Wooster, clashes over Clive’s wish to box while the family upholds its craft. They train painters, mold makers, and sculptors, creating commissioned figurines for adult collectors as they balance pride with a potential new path.
