Four Frederick banks distribute more than $200000 in checks to Christmas Savings Club members. Central Trust plans about $50000 to 2300 members across Frederick and five branch towns. Commercial State Bank issues $105261, including branch members. Burkittsville Forest Fire Under Control
A fire started two miles west of Burkittsville at noon yesterday and was reported under control by 2 PM. It consumed about 25 acres of timber owned by Samuel Ausherman Luther Fry and Charlies Lease near James Wallace’s home. Twelve Frederick county firemen and a Washington county crew battled the flames. some trees remained burning at 3 PM, but the undergrowth fire was extinguished. A second item notes George Beliew of Alexandria VA, an inspector for Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone, was acquitted in Rockville Circuit Court of a serious charge involving May Norton of Wheaton, Montgomery county. The testimony said Beliew married the complainant’s elder sister about a month after the alleged attack, and the couple separated the next day.

Falls From Scaffold At Local Building
