Frederick faces $13 million revenue loss to neighbor county
Frederick County Commissioners heard proposals to raise new funds after losing a $13 million industry to a neighboring county. Options included tax free revenue bonds tied to new industries, statewide gross income tax, or an increase in sales and income taxes. Other ideas cited were a vending machine tax and a property transfer tax. The panel noted any new tax must win state legislature approval and favored a combined state and local approach.
