Middletown High School sent a team to the national Envirothon in Nebraska earning second place on tests covering soils aquatics forestry and wildlife They presented on Omaha Missouri River greenway and scored best in oral presentation The six team members Elaine Bucheimer Natalie Bucheimer Crissi Gamache Jennifer Morat Erin Weber and Tara Harrell plus Lara Wise competed previously placing first and second in state competitions

Sheds to Ease School Storage at Four Frederick Sites
Four Frederick County elementary schools will receive storage sheds this week to ease storage overcrowding. About 70 volunteers built sheds at Francis Scott Key Mall parking lot. materials were donated or purchased with planned funds. Sheds go to Thurmont New Midway New Market Ballenger Creek Elementary. a fifth shed for Hulcrest Elementary is planned for September with more to come next spring for other schools.

County approves 59 932 contract to repair sewer line
Frederick County Commissioners awarded Milcar’s replacement bid of 59 932 to Poole and Sons Site Utilities of Middletown to repair a sinking sewer line on Inspiration Court to Stauffer Road.
