FAA aviation museum plan gains initial Frederick approval
Frederick Maryland’s CAF aviation museum at Frederick Municipal Airport won initial approval from the Airport Commission. The CAF seeks a city joint venture, revenue sharing, and use of a vacant airport building for two to three years as fundraising proceeds. Airport manager Charles Abell notes the site is prime real estate and a museum at the airport could boost tourism and local business. LeRon Bielak of the Confederate Air Force touts growing local membership and potential visitor numbers similar to the CAF’s Phoenix museum. The commission will present the plan to the mayor and aldermen for final action.
