Grand Jury Meets in Frederick County One-Day Session
Frederick County's Grand Jury held a single-day session described as an investigation by a State's Attorney spokesman. The 23-member panel will complete duties in less than two weeks with a new panel forming Sept 13. Grand jury sessions are not open to public inspection and investigate criminal complaints. The panel tours the Frederick County Adult Detention Center and inquires into inmate treatment. THURMONT A Carroll County man remained in stable condition Friday night after a two-car collision on Md 77 near Cunningham Falls. Robert Steven Williams 39 of Hampstead was flown to Washington County Hospital after his vehicle drifted over the center line and side-swiped an eastbound vehicle driven by Steven Patrick Smith 33 of East Berlin Pa who was unhurt.

Police arrest after dawn Md 40 crash in Frederick
Maryland State Police arrested a Silver Spring man after a Saturday crash on Md 40 near Petersville Road. Craig Russell Marker 24 of Frederick drove a Dodge Ram into a Honda Civic driven by Michael Wesley Morris 29 of Silver Spring Morris was hospitalized and faces charges of DWI driving with a suspended license and a stolen vehicle. Morris is also wanted by Baltimore County police on theft charges and a bench warrant.

Police arrest in John Hanson area drug bust
Frederick City Police tactical unit carried out several drug arrests in the John Hanson apartment area Friday night. Frances Eleanor Dixon, 28, of North Wisner Street, was observed buying crack cocaine from Sean Tyrone Kennedy, 22, of Landover. Dixon faced possession charges and Kennedy faced distribution and possession with intent to distribute charges.

West saves officer again in Decatur shooting
Officer Clementina Dillard, 20, was shot during a Decatur Burger King robbery attempt and underwent six hours of surgery for abdomen and hip wounds. She is in stable condition at DeKalb Medical Center. Suspect Troy Tiki Sanders, 42, was arrested on multiple charges including aggravated assault on a police officer and armed robbery. Arson Blamed for Carroll County House Fire
Deputy state fire marshal Faron Taylor says a two story vacant house at 4105 Jim Bowers Road Winfield sustained fire damage ruled arson after investigation. Twenty five firefighters fought the blaze for two hours. A DNR ranger saw the fire at 1 56 pm. The house near Morgan Run Environmental Area is owned by Kenneth Grimm of Westminster. Investigation continues to identify the responsible party.

Man shot and killed outside Quebec Terrace Apartments
Four men were outside 1014 Quebec Terrace when two suspects confronted them about 6:45 p.m. Shots were fired. Jose Orlando Cruz, 1014 Quebec Terrace, died at the scene from a chest wound.
