Frederick man jailed for 10 years without parole in crack sale
Steven Lynne Dove, 26, was sentenced to 10 years without parole after a second cocaine turnover conviction. Jurors found him guilty of selling two small rocks of crack cocaine in a Dec. 7, 1990 incident observed by a narcotics officer. The judge noted state law requires at least 10 years. maximum is 20 with no parole.

Officer's child abuse charge to be heard in Circuit Court
A Frederick City Police officer, Pvt. Thomas A. Pfarr, 28, faces child abuse charges in Frederick County Circuit Court after allegedly burning his 5-year-old daughter with two matches to teach her not to play with fire. The June incident occurred at his apartment. police accuse him of admitting the act and claim the injury was a small blister. The case was led by Carroll County assistant state’s attorney Kathi Hill with Lt. James Fraley as key witness. Pfarr’s attorney argued no intent to commit a crime, and Pfarr has been placed on desk duty pending trial.

Homeless Man Killed By Car On Silver Spring Street
Police report a 37 year old homeless man named Donald Kim Markle was struck by a 1974 Volkswagen driven by Louis Sgorson Jr. of Belvedere while lying in a Fenton Street lane near Sligo Avenue. Witnesses tried to halt the vehicle as Markle suffered massive head injuries and died at the scene. Investigation continues.
