Rebuilding Shookstown Road Bridge Contract Awarded
A Westminster firm won the bid to rebuild the Shookstown Road Bridge in Frederick city. Thomas, Bennett and Hunter receive an $8.2 million contract to replace the one lane span over Carroll Creek near Rosemont Avenue. Local access remains to neighborhoods and Market Place during construction. Morgan-Keller Inc. to add gazebos ramps and trellises between South Court and South Market at about $128,000. Market Place to be open for the Street festival October 5 6.

At the Maryland State Fair 16 year old Clay Smith of Jefferson swept the top three trophies in the 4 H daily show. He won overall fitting and showing supreme champion dairy female and the overall best bred and owned trophy. The Guernsey cow is linked to OCS Dairy with a Dam auction purchase at Frederick Fair. The 110th fair runs through Labor Day with a 4 H fashion revue and youth tractor trophies planned.
