Wheat Price Outlook Fueled by Domestic and European Demand
Expert students of government crop conditions and demand say ninety-cent wheat is certain within weeks and the dollar mark likely to be surpassed. September wheat prices have climbed well above 60 cts, with daily gains since August 1, and supply may fall by about 100 million bushels in winter and half that in spring. Europe’s demand could amount to 200 million bushels, potentially tightening home supply and export markets, with traders likening conditions to the 1897 Lehman era when wheat spiked to $1.05 a bushel.
