Wright Meets Conciliators In Anthracite Board
New York August 26 The board of conciliation for the Anthracite Strike Commission met behind closed doors at the Lehigh Valley office with Carroll D Wright present as umpire for the first time. Matters unresolved before the board were submitted to Wright for decision including discrimination claims by Coxe Brothers and Lehigh Valley Coal and Navigation against striking men. Wright will review evidence in Washington before rendering any verdict. Another meeting was held today.

Gas Explosion Burns Three At Altoona Works
Altoona Pa Aug 16 An explosion at the Altoona Gas company works burned three men. Dominic Delozier was seriously burned on the back arms face shoulders and hands. C H Hessel suffered burns to the face hands and back. Valentine Fleck endured critical injuries to the body face arms shoulders and legs. The blast occurred at the water gag plant where Delozier and Fleck were gleaning. Gas escaped from a Jenking stand pipe and ignited in the ovens, enveloping the men in flame. Fellow workers fought the flames with water. Fleck faces a grave prognosis and Delozier remains in critical condition.
