Frederick candidates urge growth focus in city issues
Republican Alderman hopeful Bertha Kennedy calls for planning how big Frederick should grow and what services to fund from growth revenue. Incumbent Calvin Bertgis cites water, industry, taxes and crime as key, while Democrat mayoral candidate Richard Sutley pushes new industry, low taxes, and incentives. Alderman Allee Merchant lists airport expansion, public safety upgrades, flood control completion, and balanced regional growth, with fiscal discipline. Incumbent James Murphy says future issues are unpredictable and should be addressed logically.
