Walkersville Plans 265 Housing Units With Buffering and Extensions

Canton Co of Silver Spring proposes a six year phased development on the northern Walkersville parcel bordered by Devilbiss Bridge Road Glade Road and the Maryland Midland Railroad with 265 housing units max. The plan includes improved roads a sewer study a traffic study buffer plantings between Roderock property and Fountain Rock Manor and no sewer pumps on site. The town may connect a Roderick sewer line to Fountain Rock Manor to avoid a pumping station. Frederick County Public Schools says the project would fail the Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance and could add up to 36 middle school students with Walkersville Middle overcapacity. The parcel sits near Pennsylvania Avenue Sandstone Drive extension with townhouses south of the extension. The developer caps first year at 50 homes and discusses service impact before Creekside subdivision concept plan approval and zoning extensions.
