Goring By Bull Kills Farm Boy
In Hagerstown AP reporting, Ronald Charles Gossard a 14 year old farm boy died from injuries after a bull gored him in a Washington County dairy farm barnyard near Williamsport. State Police said the incident occurred Sunday when the bull pulled loose from its chain and forced him against a stone wall. The boy was found by his parents half an hour later and died Monday night at Washington County Hospital.

Baptist College Names Texas Educator President
Dr. C Eugene Kratz, coordinator of institutional programs for the Christian Education Commission of Texas, was named president of Maryland Baptist College Walkersville. Trustees accepted the personnel committee's recommendation after a weekend meeting. Kratz, a Birmingham Alabama native, is married to Dorothy Mary Gray and has four children. He holds a 1949 Alabama BS, 1952 Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary degree, 1958 Alabama MA, and a 1959 Columbia University EdD, with further graduate work at Harvard. For seven years the Kratzes served as educational missionaries for the Southern Baptist Convention.

Bicyclist Michael Clarke Dies From Injuries In Crash
A 14 year old Thurmont boy Michael Edward Clarke died at Frederick Memorial Hospital after being struck by a car while riding with his brother on Route 15 near Thurmont. His 12 year old brother William Charles Clarke was injured but released. James E. Mercer 41 of Walkersville was driving the northbound car. Michael was an altar boy at Mt. Carmel Church and survived by his parents four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services planned at Mt. Carmel Church with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Frederick Bicycle Inspection Drive Lagging Behind Schedule
Major Charles V. Main, chief of police, said hundreds of bicycles in the southern section of Frederick have not been registered. A special registration and inspection will be held Wednesday from 8 30 a m to 12 30 p m at the Lincoln annex of the South Frederick Elementary School for all bicycle owners living south of Iron West South Street to the city limits. About 1,700 bicycles have been registered during the August campaign, with an anticipated total of about 3,000 inspected and registered this year. Inspections have been conducted at police headquarters on North Market Street in recent days for safety and protection.
