Life support unit leaves Jefferson for staffing issues
Jefferson loses one of two advanced life support truck units after it was ousted from the fire company. ALS coordinator Rick Himes says the mobile medic unit was placed here for central access to Frederick County’s southern area and has since had staffing problems. Chief Merril Remsberg notes the unit mostly sat unused and was kept as a garage. Volunteers dwindled and take-home arrangements persisted despite limited use. The unit’s removal reduced its response area and routed calls to the nearest medic unit via Central Alarm.
