Montgomery County seeks 670 million for school construction
Montgomery County Executive Douglas Duncan warned Gov. Parris Glendening that the county will press for 670 million in school construction funds this year. He argued the state owes Montgomery its share under the current formula and urged a statewide approach to funding to avoid piecemeal allocations that worsen divisions. Duncan cited needs including poverty and non-English-speaking students, maintenance, and transportation for special education, with long-range plans to apply statewide.
