Miller notes Krivda has four good pitches but must keep the ball down to succeed at the higher level.

Krivda had 12 days between starts due to team days off and doubleheaders. Manager Davey Johnson notes the control pitcher needs regular work to hit his spots, while Krivda admits he lacked familiarity with hitters. Coppinger’s season ends with shoulder and elbow arthroscopic surgery in Birmingham, likely Friday, after a frustrating year.

Redskins Ragged in 3-0 Preseason Showing Versus Falcons

Ashburn Virginia AP Washington Redskins coach Norv Turner called the third exhibition a dress rehearsal despite a 35-31 win over Atlanta. The 3-0 preseason mark includes a shaky first half where the starters were outplayed by Atlanta’s first team, with 42 rushing yards and an 85-yard pass setting up quick Falcons scores. Turner blamed three costly plays and a misread coverage, commending overall progress while stressing more work on fundamentals and line protection as injuries reshape the lineup.
