Steam engine tours draw 100000 riders yearly in Missouri
In southeast Missouri the St. Louis Iron Mountain Southern Railway operates a 1946 steam engine tours from Jackson. About 100000 riders yearly enjoy 1- to 2-hour trips with trips ranging from Murder Mystery and James Gang themed events to a basic ride to Gordonville. Volunteers staff the crew including engine hostler Janit Keith and conductor Duane Reynolds, while passengers experience a bygone era with coal smoke and vintage cars, amid nickel iron mountain lore.
