The Weather Bureau says high temperatures and low moisture last week caused heavy corn damage in central and southwestern Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Western Kansas reports irreparable harm, eastern Kansas partly damaged, Nebraska mostly damaged east of the river except some areas. Elsewhere, conditions favored cotton but many crops including potatoes and sugar beets need rain. Range areas west of the Great Plains also require rainfall.
