Washington Aug. 17. Professor E G Stanley Baker of Wabash College reports in The Journal of Heredity that appendicitis appears hereditary as the diseased section of the appendix runs in families. In four generations of one family twenty cases occurred, with another susceptible family found without targeted search. A child is not born with an inflamed appendix but inherits predisposition to the disease.
Professor Baker explains a study of three families suggesting appendicitis may stem from persistent bacterial buildup due to specific anatomical and vascular factors. Separate item: an ejectment suit filed by Dorothy Albrecht Virginia Horman and Constable Hammack against Luther Linton seeks $500 and recovery of land in Point of Rocks with $500 damages.
Mrs. Minnie E. Nichols of Woodsboro files for absolute divorce and alimony from Harry J. Nichols. They wed August 27, 1917, at Woodsboro. allegations cite unfaithfulness and non-support. Nichols, a cannery worker, earns about 100 dollars monthly, with periods at Hine Company at 75 to 80 dollars. An order grants 25 dollars counsel fee and 25 dollars monthly alimony during the suit unless shown otherwise by August 27. H Kieffer DeLauter represents Mrs Nichols.
