Truth Of Yalta Lies Between The Pro And Anti Extremists
NEA Washington correspondent Peter Edson weighs competing views on the Yalta agreement of 1945. He notes Russia gained seats in the United Nations and a veto in the Security Council, then questions the long term impact if Yalta had not occurred. He argues the truth lies between extreme defenses and criticisms, citing Manchuria, Sakhalin, Port Arthur and Dairen as outcomes and discusses American leverage postwar.
