Stars and meteors light up Baltimore skies this month
An amateur astronomer from Baltimore notes the Perseid meteor shower peaks Aug 11 and 12 with visible debris from Temple Turtle and the Perseid swarm across the sky. Jupiter rises earlier each night, Saturn follows, and a November Leonid show is hoped for as city light pollution dims the view. Observatories include Maryland Science Center and Goddard Space Flight Center with notes on dark-sky viewing.
