Rededication of Key monument this Sunday in Mount Olivet
The grave of Francis Scott Key at Mount Olivet Cemetery will host a Sunday rededication on Aug 9 with a 4pm ceremony. Gov. Parris Glendening will deliver the keynote, joined by Sen. Paul Sarbanes, Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, and Ann Hunter. The event recalls a 100 year old program featuring Pershing's Own Army Band and Fort McHenry Guard demonstrations. A 1896 time capsule will be opened and a new aluminum capsule buried, containing items tied to Key Monument Centennial and Frederick County’s Star Spangled year.
