Friends mourn Walkersville classmate Daniel Roberts

Five Frederick police officers promoted to corporal at City Hall

Five Frederick Police Department officers were promoted to corporal at a City Hall ceremony after a two month promotion process of exams and leadership evaluations. The mayor and board approved the promotions, with Beattie Hetherington Rocca Stocksdale and Trapp named as the top five.

Thurmont man arrested after driving to barracks incident

A Thurmont resident followed the arrested drunk driver Mary Jane Brunner to the Maryland State Police barrack in Frederick. Thomas Miller Jr. admitted driving a 1983 Buick to the city, then parked across from the Holiday Inn and was taken into custody after officers detected alcohol on him.

Weinberg Center to launch classic film series this year

Weinberg Center for the Arts plans a new season featuring classic movies with stars such as Orson Welles, Lauren Bacall, Humphrey Bogart and Marilyn Monroe. The center will close for about six weeks at the end of August for renovations and to install an infrared listening system, wheelchair access upgrades, a new telephone system and TTY machine.

Monumental weekend events fill Frederick County slate

A busy weekend unfolds in Frederick County with a rededication at Mount Olivet Cemetery honoring Francis Scott Key at 4 p.m. Sunday led by Gov. Parris Glendening and featuring speakers including Sen.
