Gas Tax To Bring Reciprocal Relations Across Borders
Maryland considers a 2 cent per gallon gas tax to coordinate road funding with the District of Columbia and other states. Supporters, including John N. Mackall, cite better highway upkeep and cross border simplicity, noting 17 states already use similar plans. The tax would take effect January 1 2024, with trucks from other states likely taxed more heavily and gasoline carriers handling collection at the source.
