Sky harp by Rob Fisher headed for Osaka Hilton
Bellefonte based sculptor Rob Fisher will debut a three story sky harp at Osaka International Hilton in September. The 1600 pound, 16 panel sculpture uses 24 cables and 144 small aluminum squares created by computer. Fisher collaborated with Ray Masters for the program that models the installation and building, allowing virtual viewing before assembly in August by Japanese workers. Fisher defends computer use, noting it speeds exploration of designs while preserving studio craftsmanship.
