Comatose youth's steer named grand champion at fair
Tears and cheers marked Robbie Smith's 1450 pound dairy steer as it was named grand champion of Carroll County Fair 4-H show. Smith, comatose since March 9, watched from his hospital room as friends showed the steer, called Big Daddy, and received the green banner purple ribbon and silver tray. His parents and nurses kept vigil as the community celebrated the milestone hoped to stir him awake.
