Middletown Valley Community Show plans announced
The Middletown Grange with FFA FFA Alumni and Braddock Grange announce the Middletown Community Show at Middletown Middle School on September 29 and 30. Exhibits include canned goods baked items crafts needlework art and more with a youth division for under 19 using items grown or made in 1978. Volunteers are invited for entering setting up and help. call Eleanor Bidle at 371 6383 with questions and save the dates.

Tom Rice Receives State FFA Award Hope for National
Tom Rice age 18 son of Mr and Mrs Thomas E Rice of Frederick and a member of the Singapore FFA Chapter was honored at the Maryland FFA Association Golden Anniversary Convention. He received a $100 check for the Fruit and Vegetable Production Award sponsored by the National FFA Foundation through Briggs and Stratton. His application advances to regional competition among state winners for one of four nationwide awards.

Thurmont Grange holds July meetings and summer events
Thurmont Grange held a regular July meeting at Thurmont Community Park with a covered-dish supper led by Master Roger Troxell. Members reported on campfire programs at Owen's Creek Campground, talent acts from Thurmont, Project Clearwater tasks, and safety campaigns during National Farm Safety Week with radio spots and a mall display winning a district award.

Thurmont Juniors Meet and Grange Activities Update
The Thurmont Juniors held a regular meeting at Thurmont Community Park. Flower bulbs were planted at Cunningham Falls State Park Manor Area. A junior tea is planned August 2 at 1 30 p m in the park. Awards will be presented. Safety Booth won third in Youth Organizations at Frederick Town Mall. Relay races were held and a parade float prepared for the Thurmont parade with the theme Hop on the Junior Grange Wagon. An end-year picnic hosted by the Merry Poppies concluded the 4H year with horseback riding and various activities.
