Hess's Grand Opening Impresses Frederick Shoppers
Hess's opens its 17th store at FSK Mall Frederick with 150 employees. Robert E. Wells leads as manager and VP, drawing talent from Allentown and Scranton Hess's. The store features a German designed decor by Wolfgang Otto, a vast unisex shoe department, maternity wear, and a wide range from bargain basement to luxury goods. Highlights include a $8,000 silver malachite soup tureen, a $5,000 Grasshopper piece, and a $1,200 turtle figurine. The new shop promises a major shift for local retail and possibly affects nearby merchants.
