Urbana commissioners bypass master plan in zoning cases
The Urbana area master plan adopted March 20 by a 3 to 2 vote faced resistance as county commissioners rejected planners requests to down zone about 450 acres in Hyattstown from industrial to agricultural and 140 acres in Green Valley from residential to agricultural. The board, citing a 1977 county law allowing two years to develop land, endorsed three Urbana rezoning cases while siding with existing property owners on others.
