Frederick County approves one rezoning amid concerns on growth
Frederick County commissioners approved a 26.5 acre rezoning on Jacobs Road for Frail Developers despite resident worries over school crowding roads and water. Two other requests, including 61.9 acres on Woodville Road, were denied as outside the county’s residential plan. The Busche site denial followed objections about services for existing residents.

Freeman Shoe Co plans to shut its Emmitsburg plant after 33 years, leaving about 150 workers facing unemployment. Residents aged 50 plus face scarce job options as the closure adds to local employment strain.
