Budget Proposals Shape Frederick County Finances

Frederick County faces shifts in revenue predictions as the General Assembly approves local bills. A Mandel administration plan would let the state assume school construction costs and part of debt service, cutting county expenses. A $1.3 million debt service saving will reflect in the school budget, though regulated in capital accounts. If state design control grows, the county may dispense with a county architect. The county gains a $4.5 million bond authority for land purchases. Metropolitan Commission size increases from three to five, reshaping local oversight. Most requested local bills pass, with few changes.
