No Increase For Real Estate In Frederick County Budget
Frederick County will maintain a real estate tax rate of $2.14 per $100 assessed for fiscal 1965 with a $7,096,142 operating budget. Education consumes about 76 percent, including $3,813,583 for current expenses and $1,595,725 for school debt service, while the Board of County Commissioners cut $576,001 from education requests. Major reasons for keeping the rate steady are increased state aid to education and a 1963 budget surplus applied to the new year. The plan includes teacher salaries rising to $5,000 starting pay, and a bookmobile approved by a 21 to 1 vote.
