Oxon Hill Manor and the death of President Hanson in 1783
The Addison family estate Oxon Hill Manor, built by Colonel John Addison and later expanded by his descendants, shaped John Hanson’s final years. Hanson died November 15, 1783, after serving as president, with burial at Oxon Hill per family ties and regional links to the Addisons. The manor later passed out of the family, and its historic grave sites fell into neglect.
