Sweden To Aid Nazis Trade Notes Stir Neutral Stance
Britain and the United States delivered a note to Sweden demanding halting exports to the Axis of ball bearings and related machinery. Swedish officials defended the 1944 accord while signaling willingness to consider Allied views amid growing pressure from Britain and America. A separate U.S. note followed amid Navy and trade tensions affecting Eire and Portugal as neutral nations face intensified pressure. Also, Howard Scheetz urged information on the disappearance of his wife Frances Ida Scheetz, last seen Sunday, with her father in ill health.

Separate National Forces To Maintain Peace After War Ends
Washington reports State Department experts studied a single international police force but find it impractical. Instead, separate national forces would be used under international agreement to suppress disturbances. Secretary Hull will present plans to the Senate committee, with Britain, Russia, and China as initial partners. The approach hinges on world cooperation and domestic acceptance, balancing national armies with a broader peacekeeping framework.
