Archery Club Roots in Woodsboro Bowmen History
Jim Shankle recalls the sudden idea for archery clubs sparked at the old airport. Skeets Bruchey’s ad led to the formation of Tuscarora Archers, then Woodsboro Bowmen, who built a public, insured range on land owned by LeGore and Barrick Lime Companies. The club, now led by Jim Shankle, faces displacement as landowners plan new uses, ending an era and a cherished local landmark.
