Poolesville’s Quiet Charm Tied To Historic Echoes
Poolesville, Maryland, incorporated 1867, lies near Sugarloaf Mountain with old canal routes to Conrad's Ferry and Sycamore Landing. The town, second in age to Rockville, shows early families like Poole, Conrad, and Edwards, a modern school and bank today, and Civil War ties including Ball’s Bluff casualties and figures like Col Baker and Oliver Wendell Holmes. Three children died in a fire near Alma, Michigan, with their mother Millie Buswell critically burned.
