Death rate at new low for many areas worldwide
Geneva reports World Health Organization data showing declining death rates across much of Europe and Asia after World War II. The Netherlands records the world’s lowest rate at 6.2 per 1,000. India falls to 18.1, and the U.S. rate for 1947 stands at 10.1. The drop is partly attributed to war-related survival effects. A second item notes a jet-plane incident in Aldergrove with near-miss over power lines.
