Saloons Become Businesses In Frederick County History
Long before Volstead activists, Frederick County hosted many saloons where workers drank liquor. After prohibition pressured closures in 1916, most former saloons reopened as bakeries, druggists, shops, or other businesses, with many former owners prospering in new trades.
