The House Banking Committee approved a 15 to 4 extension of the OPA for a full year with amendments. The panel rejected a nine month limit, while proposals to end subsidies gradually and adjust price policies were advanced. Speaker Rayburn signaled a broader House debate on price control next week.

Cant Eyade Paying American Income Taxes
Washington April 5 baseball players jumping to the Mexican League for higher salaries must pay United States income taxes so long as they are American citizens. Mickey Owen Vernon Stephens and others have switched from organized ball to the Mexican circuit. Taxes paid to the Mexican Government will be deductible from the amount due the United States, officials said. But in the final analysis these players will have to pay as much as if all their taxes were paid to the United States.
