Charity Organization Society marks ten years of relief work

The Charity Organization Society reports ten years of aid totaling 3481 grants and 281 recipients, funded largely by voluntary contributions and city funds. It highlights fuel and provisions grants, administrative frugality, and efforts to keep families intact, noting white and colored families received varying aid and that most assistance addressed poverty caused by illness or disability rather than dependency.
