Judge dismisses sexual bias suit against Rocky Ridge VFD
Judge G Edward Dwyer Jr dismissed the sexual bias suit against the Rocky Ridge Volunteer Fire Department ruling that the plaintiffs vague emotional distress claims failed to state a cause of action. He gave Jeanne and Carl Angleberger two days to amend and refile with specific allegations of misconduct by the department and its leaders. The couple, represented by James W Respess, sought more than 5 million dollars for alleged intentional infliction of emotional distress and asserted the discrimination violated their constitutional rights. The defendants denied the allegations. Carl Angleberger joined the VFD in 1978 and rose to second assistant chief with his wife Jeanne later qualifying as medical responders. The suit named the fire company president, chief, and board members.
