Chehalem Mountain Good Roads Group Formed After Picnic

A Tuesday booster meeting at Pleasant View school on Chehalem Mountain organized the Chehalem Mountain Good Roads Association with John Jones as president and Dr. Brown as secretary treasurer. Attendees praised a feasting dinner, heard plans for a new mountain road with a better grade, and pledged county and local support.

Medal Contest Delivers Earnest Speeches at Chehalem Center

A varied program at Chehalem Center featured a silver medal contest focused on the cigarette question. Speakers Horace Terrell Davis Woodward Walter Cook and Francis Clark performed with training and candor Francis Clark won the medal. The event included chorus numbers piano solos and songs by Cecil Pearson Waldo Potter and Miss Jones. Children from town participated and Mrs Hannon spoke on the cigarette habit noting soldiers requesting no cigarettes from friends.

Mrs. Chapin to Teach Fourth Grade at Newberg School

Mrs. C. R. Chapin, who taught in Corvallis schools this past year, will head the fourth grade in the Newberg school next year.

Oregon Primary Results Name Ticket Leaders

The primary produced James Withycombe as Republican governor nominee and Walter M. Pierce as Democratic hopeful. U.S. Senator Charles L. McNary won big over R. N. Grange Picnic at Carlton May 25 Promises Music and Speech

Under Pomona Grange auspices a countywide picnic will be held at Wennerberg park Carlton Oregon on Saturday May 25. Carlton residents supply free coffee and dinner for speakers and the band. Attendees should bring a well filled basket. Enjoy a day of music and fellowship as a Canadian soldier speaks.
