Red Cross Drive Opens May 20 for County Campaign
The National War Drive for Red Cross funds starts May 20 for one week. Yamhill county’s apportionment is fifteen thousand dollars. W. B. Dennis of Carlton is county chairman with assistants W. W H Wood a West Chehalem resident and 1864 pioneer passed away at his home at age 72. He crossed the plains from Missouri with his parents in 1864 and helped build a farm, leaving a widow Mary E Carter and children including M Mary Vinton Alfred M deceased Myrtie Noble Bertha Rice Wm Avery and Graydon Wood. Survived by two brothers Amos and Fielder. Funeral held at home with Rev John Shires officiating.
