Old Klickitat Indian Jake Hunt Jr Dies at 109
Jake Hunt Jr an aged Klickitat Indian died of smallpox at his White Valley homestead in White Salmon Washington at age 109. He was said to be the Northwest’s oldest Indian and an early guide to Portland before white settlers arrived. His passing ends a long life marked by marriages, six children, and a famed “Monarch of the County” tree nearby.
